This nationally recognised course is designed for educators and support staff working in early childhood education and care settings. It provides the knowledge and practical skills to respond to a wide range of first aid emergencies while meeting workplace, legal, and compliance requirements. All training is delivered in line with Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines and other national peak clinical bodies.

You Will Learn How To

  • Recognise and respond to illness and injury in infants, children, and adults

  • Provide appropriate first aid using action plans, equipment, and resources

  • Perform CPR and use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

  • Respond to anaphylaxis and asthma emergencies

  • Provide care for bleeding, shock, fractures, dislocations, sprains, strains, and envenomation

  • Communicate effectively with parents, caregivers, and emergency services

  • Understand the basic anatomy and physiology relevant to children and infants

  • Identify when urgent ambulance care is required

  • Complete incident documentation accurately

  • Reflect on incidents, recognise psychological impacts, and seek help when needed

  • Talk to children about their emotions following a first aid event

Practical Training

  • Performing CPR on an adult, child, and infant (including use of an AED and placing a casualty into the recovery position)

  • Managing asthma and anaphylaxis in a child casualty

  • Providing first aid for choking in children and infants

  • Responding to bleeding and shock, including wound cleaning

  • Treating nosebleeds, fractures, dislocations, sprains, strains, and envenomation

  • Completing a first aid incident report form based on a simulated scenario
