Overview
This nationally recognised course is designed for educators, childcare workers, and support staff in education and care settings. It meets the requirements of the Australian Children's Education & Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) and follows the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines. Participants will gain essential first aid skills to respond to emergencies involving infants, children, and adults.
Course Structure

Online Learning – A self-paced module that must be completed before attending the face-to-face session.

Face-to-Face Practical Assessment – A hands-on session lasting approximately 4 hours, where participants apply their skills in a simulated environment under expert guidance.
Fees
The HLTAID012 – Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting course is $150 per person. Please note, a minimum of 5 participants is required, with a maximum capacity of 20 participants per session.
Certification
Upon successful completion, participants receive a Statement of Attainment for:

This certification is nationally recognised across Australia. The industry recommendation is to renew:

CPR certification every 12 months

First Aid certification every 3 years
Entry Requirements
Participants must:
-
Have the physical ability to perform 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor.

Demonstrate rescue breathing techniques using a manikin.
-
Have access to a computer, tablet, or smartphone with an internet connection to complete the online learning.
Performance Tasks and Practical Scenarios
Participants will complete hands-on scenarios, including:

Performing CPR on an adult (incl. the use of an AED and placing a casualty into the recovery position)

Completing a first aid incident report form based on the simulated first aid scenario

Performing CPR on a child
-
Performing CPR on an infant
-
Managing a child casualty with anaphylaxis
-
Managing a child casualty with asthma
-
Managing a choking child and infant casualty
-
Managing a child casualty with non-life-threatening bleeding and shock, requiring minor wound cleaning
-
Managing a child casualty with a nosebleed
-
Managing a child casualty with a fracture and dislocation
-
Managing a child casualty with a sprain and strain
-
Managing a child casualty with envenomation (snake/ funnel-web spider bite)

Complete Training
First Aid Training courses will consist of two parts:

Online pre-course work

A Face to face practical assessment delivered on-site at your location

Receive First Aid Certificate
After participants complete all pre-course work and are deemed competent during their assessment:

Certificate sent to participant via email & USI record updated

Certificates available for download on your Client Portal

The participants organisation will receive all certificates for streamlined administrative purposes
-
Automatic reminders are sent when staff certificates are due to expire, streamlining the process for refresher training
