Overview

This nationally recognised course provides participants with the skills and knowledge required to lead an Emergency Control Organisation (ECO) in line with Australian Standards 3745 and 4083. Commonly referred to as the Chief Warden course, this training ensures participants are equipped to make critical decisions regarding occupant safety during an emergency. Participants will learn to command, control, and coordinate facility emergency response procedures, as well as conclude emergency incidents effectively.

This course is designed for individuals who may be required to act as chief wardens, deputy chief wardens, or communications officers within an ECO. It applies across various industries and workplace settings, ensuring compliance with emergency management protocols and legal requirements.

Course Structure

The course consists of two components:

  • Online Learning – A self-paced online module that must be completed before attending the face-to-face session. This allows participants to learn at their own pace, making it flexible and convenient.

  • Face-to-Face Practical Assessment – A hands-on training session where participants will apply their emergency response skills in a simulated environment under the guidance of an experienced instructor

Fees

The cost of the PUAFER005 – Operate as Part of an Emergency Control Organisation course is $199 per person.

Please note, a minimum of 5 participants is required, with a maximum capacity of 20 participants per session.

Certification

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a Statement of Attainment for:

  • PUAFER006 - Lead an emergency control organisation

This certification is nationally recognised and valid across Australia. Regular refresher training is recommended to maintain competency

Entry Requirements

To participate in this course, students must meet the following requirements:

  • Capability to complete the practical demonstrations for the course, including:

  • Command, control and conduct regular training exercises

  • Conduct dynamic risk assessments

  • Control access to affected areas and monitor evacuation process

  • Ability to assess emergency and initiate action plans and procedures

  • Provide debriefing information and compile reports for the emergency planning committee and management

  • This course has a pre-requisite of PUAFER005 Operate as part of an emergency control organisation which much be completed prior to undertaking this unit of competency.

Complete Training 

First Aid Training courses will consist of two parts:

  • Online pre-course work

  • A Face to face practical assessment delivered on-site at your location

Receive First Aid Certificate

After participants complete all pre-course work and are deemed competent during their assessment:

  • Certificate sent to participant via email & USI record updated

  • Certificates available for download on your Client Portal

  • The participants organisation will receive all certificates for streamlined administrative purposes

  • Automatic reminders are sent when staff certificates are due to expire, streamlining the process for refresher training
